Making the commercial perfect




 Editing


Today is October 6th 2021. I had just started editing for the commercial. I needed to make sure all the scenes were in order. Some of the scenes I filmed could not be edited and put into the commercial because they were not good enough. The editing started on the school computers so it was a little bit difficult. But the editing finished at home so it was easier. After the edit, the film was about 28 seconds. I had a little bit of a problem trying to make the film get to 30 seconds. I corrected this by slowing down the speed of the film to make it last longer. When I filmed, I threw a football and it hit the ground, so when I edited with my group, I just edited the ball in the air and slowed it so it can be good. I also added action music to make the commercial more interesting and not be boring. The music also fits because it is a Nike commercial which means it needs to be motivating. 

I also made sure to highlight the Nike products so they stand out. I did this by editing scenes were the Nike products are clearly displayed. I also edited a football zooming all the way to transition to my other group members scene. I did this because it would be smooth. I also made sure that all six skits from the storyboard were all included for the editing. All of my group members were clear on what was being edited. I took me a while to edit, but with help from my group members, it made it a lot easier for me.

 For the first movie that our group researches, we choose a thriller called "Death Wish". Here are some conventions that we found in the blog that we liked, did not like, and overall conventions that we should use in our film. Conventions that we liked: There was a lot of conventions used in this film that our group likes. To start, a lot of the angles used have underlining purposes. For example, the antagonist in this film are usually represented with low angles that shows them having power over another subject. To give the film a more modern feel, the costumes worn during the duration was more modern, causal clothing which is something that my group actually liked. Production (music)

 Today is March 7th and me and my group have worked on the music we will use in our film. I have already started the process of using the music in the film that will best fit for the certain scenes. At first, me and my group could not decide what music to use for the film. But me and my group searched different thrilling and establishing music and we found the ones me and my group like best. Me and my group will use establishing music for the beginning of the film. And my film will use thrilling music for climax and important events. Important events such as the kidnapper in our film escaping, and the vehicle driving off. The establishing music will take place for about the first 20-30 seconds of the film and get the film to establish a meaning and help the audience get interested. Convention Research (Skyscraper)

 Conventions that we liked: There was a lot of conventions used in this film that our group likes. The angles and the clamps have their own purposes. We liked that the costumes because they were very casual since the movie takes place in a skyscraper. They were also props such as machine guns being shot, during the rising action of the movie. We like that it gives the audience a sense of suspense with the guns being shot. The lighting used since its in a big city gives a thrilling vibe. We definitely want to use a certain lighting in our film. The lighting gives a natural thrilling feel. Finally, we like the sound used in the movie. The sound of suspense attracts the audience which is very good for the film. Conventions that my group didn't like: My group didn't like certain things found in the film.
